Our Explorers learn through teamwork, hands on activities and having fun

Throughout the year our Explorers participate in activities designed to:

  • Foster independent thinking and decision making

  • Build self confidence

  • Create team spirit and trust in each other and themselves

  • Increase sense of purpose in our community

Advisor led group activities include:

  • Volunteering at community events such as Kool April Nights, Redding Rodeo, Parades, Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, Foster Children's Christmas Party, and other volunteerism as requests are approved

  • Annual camping trip

  • Law Enforcement related field trips such as tours of Juvenile Hall

  • Explorer Competitions

All activities are supervised by an Explorer Advisor or other Department Employee. Safety is always our top priority with all Advisors being 1st aid and CPR certified, as well as youth supervision training as required by the Boy Scouts of America, Learning For Life program.

A Truly Effective Program

"My time in the Explorers taught me what the Redding Police Department does for the community and what it means to be a Police Officer."
